I want to get the partition identifier (diskXsY) for an unmounted partition (a VeraCrypt container) from its known partition UUID, in Terminal or shell script on macOS.

So, basically the reverse of diskutil info diskXsY | grep 'Disk / Partition UUID'.

This partition type does not return a UUID with system_profiler SPUSBDataType.

I could in principle get the identifier for the EFI partition of the disk (its UUID is returned by system_profiler), and go to partition Y from there, but that is… inelegant and one more point to break.

Background: An external USB encrypted partition shall be mounted by script with only a passphrase or keyfile path to be entered manually.
