I would like to create a custom shaped window in QML. The window should let mouse events pass through outside of the shape.

I tried many things.

  • QWindow's setMask function only blocks the mouse events, but it does not let the events pass through the window.
  • QApplication's installEventFilter which is rejecting the mouse button presses doesn't work either: it blocks the mouse events, but it does not let the events pass through the window:
if (event->type() == QEvent::MouseButtonPress)
{
        event->ignore(); // deny mouse press events
        return true;
}

Do you have other suggestions for how this could be achieved?
