Python session cookies error, how to fix?

Note the suggested solution created another problem:

In python when I write:

s.cookies['rishum'] =  courses

It works perfectly, but when I write:

s.cookies['rishum'] = s.cookies['rishum'] + courses

I get:

raise KeyError('name=%r, domain=%r, path=%r' % (name, domain, path)) KeyError: "name='rishum', domain=None, path=None"

What is causing this error?

Is s.cookies['rishum'] already set before you tried to assign it to s.cookies['rishum'] + courses?
